It's an hotel made for secluded getaways. Reached by a winding road down steep, wooded hills and with practically nothing else near it, it’s in a peaceful spot overlooking Glyfada – one of the best beaches in Corfu. Yet don’t think you’re completely out on a limb – cabs are easily available and the hotel runs a bus into Corfu Town.
Wider location aside, the beach takes top billing. It’s a sweep of golden sands framed by craggy hills. And the hotel has lined the sands with sunloungers and parasols, which you can hire to take full advantage of the setting.
As for the pool, it’s an L-shaped affair, which looks out on olive groves one way and the sea on the other. There’s a snack bar here, too. And talking of places to eat, you’ve got a few options.
The main Figaretto restaurant, due a total make-over, rustles up buffet breakfasts and dinners, and has a pretty terrace perched above the gardens. Topping it off is a beach grill and regular theme nights spotlighting Italian and Greek cuisine. As part of the renovation a new themed Asian restaurant will be added where All Inclusive guests can dine once a week, by reservation.
The hotel itself is already elegantly done out, starting with a striking black-and-white-tiled lobby and a lounge bar with antique furniture. The refit will include new furnishings throughout, so details may differ from those illustrated.
Bedrooms, currently decked out in muted golds, are also due a re-shine with new furnishings, new satellite TVs and new balcony furniture - so expect to share the sparkle. For more space, you can opt for family rooms. And it’s worth choosing a sea-view room for the sunsets. Glyfada beach faces west, so you’ll be treated to grandstand views as the sun goes down.
