The Taner Hotel is right in the heart of Olu Deniz, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beach. Set among hills in a quiet spot, it’s little wonder this small family-run place is so consistently popular with guests. What’s more, the more upbeat resort of Hisaronu, with its shops and nightlife is just a short drive away by car – about 15 minutes.

The hotel itself has a slight Ottoman air to it. Painted pale green and topped with a terracotta roof, it comes with wrought-iron trimmed balconies and peaked windows. Inside, bedrooms are simply decorated to match the exterior. Dark-wood furniture, TVs and balconies add the finishing touches.

Outside, a roomy rectangular pool is set in a sun terrace partly shaded by trees. On one Side lies a row of sunbeds and parasols, while the sturdy wooden tables and chairs of the pool bar are dotted diagonally opposite.

Lastly, on the food front, this place serves breakfast in its buffet restaurant. It’s a Turkish affair so expect breads, jams and yoghurts. Later on in the day you can snack on light bites at the pool bar.
