They couldn't have picked a better spot for the Riu Montego Bay if they tried. It's cupped into Montego Bay, on a beach that's the epitome of Caribbean paradise. Cue caster sugar sands, swaying palms and crystal-clear seas. Plus it's wrapped in ten acres of gorgeous tropical gardens. It's certainly easy on the eye.
On the subject of good looks, this place is brand new so its whitewashed walls bring a modern flourish to the beachfront. It looks like a gleaming white palace and even the smaller room blocks remind you of Bel Air mansions . But that's not to say it looks out of place. On the contrary, the pointy-roofed towers, cobbled walkways and railed balconies give it a touch of Colonial style.
Sitting in the middle of all this is the pool. Large, lagoon-shaped and framed by sunbeds, it's a real sun-trap. And there's a swim-up bar here, too. So you don't even have to get out of the water to get a drink.
On the inside, the marble floors and dark wood furniture paint a picture of understated elegance. There's more of the same in the bedrooms. Tiled floors, cream walls and ceiling fans are set off by tropical prints adding a hint of colour. They're simple, stylish and perfect for a siesta.
There's certainly plenty of choice on the restaurant front here. There's an Asian eatery, a grill and steak house, and an Italian. Not to mention the international buffet. And it's All Inclusive, too, so there'll be no hefty a la carte bill at the end of your stay.
