If you like your hotels pretty, peaceful and with plenty of personality, this family-run number deserves to be on your shortlist. From a looks point of view it's fairly straight-forward, yet it ticks all the right boxes for a Med holiday hideaway. Think whitewashed walls, terracotta roof tiles and a spacious sun terrace that's spot on for a long spell in the sun. At the heart lies the pool, with a separate section for any splash-happy little ones. Families are welcome here – this is, after all, a family-run place – but having said that, it tends to be more of a hit with couples. Head inside, and crisp, white interiors with cool tile floors bring the holiday vibe indoors. It's recently been refurbished so it's got a really fresh feel to it. Rooms come with their own balcony facing either the pool or the sea. And they've been kitted out with all the essentials – air-con, a fridge, those all-important tea and coffee-making facilities. There's a restaurant here, too, where you can get your day off to a good start with a buffet breakfast. For lunch and dinner, if you're not going for the self-catering option, we suggest you try some of Lassi's bars and restaurants. A 20-minute walk – or a five minute taxi if you don't fancy tackling the hill – will bring you to the centre, where you'll find plenty of choices on the food front. It's a similar journey to the capital, Argostoli, where you'll find lots more temptations. So that leaves just one question on the location front – where's the beach? Put simply, it's close. Really close. There's a little beach just a couple of minutes' walk away. Or if you fancy stretching out on two of the island's best sandy stretches – the tongue-twisting Platis Yialos and Makris Yialos – you can be doing just that inside around 20 minutes. You'll find loads of watersports at these beaches, too, everything from pedaloes to paragliding. Last but not least, we can't talk about this hotel without giving a nod to the service. It's got a really homely feel to it and a sense that nothing's too much trouble. Don't be surprised if your farewell comes in the form of 'see you next year'.
