Cocooned between tree-topped hills and blue waters, the Cinco Plazas Apartments have clinched a great spot on Lanzarote’s southern coast. The nearest beach – a six-kilometre Blue Flag stretch – is less than a ten-minute walk away, and Puerto del Carmen’s shops, restaurants and bars are even closer.

When you just want to take it easy, though, pick a spot by one of the swimming pools. There are three in total, each one surrounded by a spacious sun terrace with plenty in the way of loungers and thatched umbrellas. You’ll find a children’s pool, too, plus a couple of pool tables set beneath striped canopies.

Overlooking the whole scene are the apartments, which are housed in low-level whitewashed buildings. Inside, smart cream walls and royal blue soft furnishings team up to create a traditional vibe, while large balconies showcase the views. What’s more, each apartment has a kitchenette, complete with all the essentials, plus added extras like a microwave and a coffee-maker.

If you don’t fancy cooking, though, there are a couple of other options come mealtimes. The poolside bar serves drinks and snacks throughout the day, while the main restaurant offers up international buffets in the mornings and evenings. It looks the part, too, with long mahogany tables and stylish cream chairs lined up in neat rows. Plus you can eat out on the terrace.
