This place is great if you want to get away from it all. It’s set in a really isolated spot on the coast, with a sheltered beach on the doorstep. And it backs onto thick green forests, so the scenery stretches for miles. When you do want to get out and about, though, the bars and restaurants of Calas de Majorca are less than a ten-minute walk away. The rocky landscape makes for some pretty rugged walking terrain, so you’re better off taking a taxi at night.

In terms of things to do here, sports take centre-stage. Tennis, volleyball and sailing are all on the agenda. Plus, you can practise putting at the 18-hole minigolf course or perfect your aim at the airgun shooting range.

This place caters for take-it-easy types, too. You’ll find plenty of quiet spots down at the beach and, at the hotel itself, you can unroll your towel on one of the palm-backed lawns or pick a spot by the huge swimming pool.

As for food, mealtimes are buffet affairs. For breakfast, that means continental dishes like fruit and cereal alongside a traditional English fry-up. At lunch and dinner, expect a mix of local specialities and international favourites like pasta, salad and seafood. What’s more, the dining room couldn’t be in a better spot. Its wooden furniture and whitewashed walls may be understated, but the views of the sea definitely aren’t.

It’s a similar story in the bedrooms. Décor-wise, things are kept simple and fuss-free. Pine-coloured soft furnishings brighten up neutral walls. And, because everything is spread out across the grounds – with some rooms about a 20-minute stroll from reception – you get a real sense of your own space.
