This hotel fronts a fabulous beach, the likes of which you only expect to see in the Caribbean. Sunbeds line the sand, and there’s a beach bar serving snacks. Plus it’s only a few minutes to the shops and restaurants of Playa De Muro, with the centre of Alcudia around a 20-minute walk away.

Closer to home, there’s an equally impressive pool scene. The huge, lagoon-shaped pool has a bridge crossing it, and a section just for children. Loungers and large parasols are dotted along the sun terraces.

On the food front, expect larger-than-life buffets. In 2009, the restaurant was treated to a makeover, and now has on-the-spot cooking stations. The menu’s mainly international, although now and again a taste of home comes courtesy of things like beef stew and shepherd’s pie.

Lastly, you’ve got the rooms to consider. Dressed in neutral tones, they team whitewashed walls with tiled floors and dark wooden furniture. Glass doors open on to a balcony with a table and chairs and they all come with air-conditioning and satellite TVs as standard. Plus, each room comes with the added extra of a whirlpool bath or power shower.
