The Pez Espada was the first luxury hotel on the Costa Del Sol, opening its doors back in the 1950s. It was a magnet for Hollywood stars and its guest book includes the likes of Sophia Loren and Sean Connery. Photos of some of the most famous guests line the hotel’s aptly-named ‘Corridor of Fame’. The most famous guest of them all, Frank Sinatra, even has a bar named after him.

In terms of location, the hotel is in a prime spot next to Torremolinos’ beach promenade. Benalmadena’s chic marina, meanwhile, is only a five-minute walk away and La Cariheula, the Spanish quarter known for its tapas bars and fish restaurants, is close by, too.

Along with simple, modern bedrooms, the hotel’s culinary credentials are probably its trump card. Not only are there buffets morning and evening, but once a week there’s a gala dinner.
