Crammed full of old-worldly charm, Hotel Del Almirante provides a wonderfully comfortable base in which to unwind. And in order to do this, you’ll undoubtedly want to spend much of your time at the pool area. Nicely secluded and dotted with sunbeds, it’s easy to simply recline and laze the day away. Add gardens, lounges and a bar to the mix and that much sought after downtime becomes easier still.

Should you decide to up the ante, the hotel also has its own tennis court, while a wider range of attractions can be found in Mahon and Es Castell – both of which are a leisurely stroll away. Should you opt for a trip to the latter, you’ll find a wide variety of shops and restaurants, not to mention a military museum.

And speaking of history, no description of the Del Almirante would be complete without mentioning its own history – for this is a Georgian house once owned by Admiral Collingwood, friend of Lord Nelson. As a result, several eighteenth and nineteenth century antiques adorn the building, while old portraits and paintings cover the walls. It’s genuinely absorbing.
