Palm trees. Flamingos. Thatched-roof bars. The Hacienda Dominicus is as tropical as they come. What's more, it's right on the beach. And what a beach it is! All powder-white sands and turquoise seas, it's like something from the pages of Robinson Crusoe. Imagine yourself there, lying back in the bath-warm shallows at the water's edge with the sun shining down on you. If you fancy a drink, make a beeline for the beach bar. Reminiscent of a lighthouse, it's painted in striking black and white stripes – you won't be able to miss it. Pull up a chair, order a fruity cocktail and just chill.
But if you prefer the pool to the beach, there are three swimming pools to choose from. Plus, in the centre of the main pool, you'll find what the staff call 'Little Saona'. A tiny island complete with glamorous whirlpool bath - now that really is getting away from it all. Want to step it up a notch? Well there's plenty to do. Try your hand at archery. Join in a game of water polo. Or head to the beach for a bit of a kick around. You can even learn some salsa steps.
And there's lots on offer on the food front, too. There's a Mexican, a Japanese, a steakhouse and buffets galore. But this is dining with a difference. The restaurants are all tucked away in a corner making it feel more like a town plaza than your average line of hotel eateries. So eating in feels more like eating out here.
